Wellborn Ideas was founded in 2001 in Austin, TX but after 10 years we went on an adventure and ended up in Mobile, AL. Loved the rich culture and the blossoming need for a “new kid,” with ideas that were outside of the box, so we stayed and started doing our thing.
Growing up we were the kids at computer camp writing programs while the kids across the lake were making lanyards and bracelets. While others were learning how to tie their shoes, we were building websites. By the first day of kindergarten we were winning design awards.
Whether it’s a website, social media marketing, a brochure or public relations push, you can be assured that our recommendations are the tried and true concepts of marketing as well as the latest trends in a constantly evolving online landscape. In other words we have what you need. Our work may not be a singing card, but it certainly speaks (more like shouts) volumes of our mad skills!
Our works of art are the result of our “cool ideas, geek skills”, besides given our ten years of experience serving local, regional, and national clients (yeah that’s right, national) we pretty much know what were are doing.
COOL IDEAS: We think differently. Our work is fresh, modern, hip, and straight up cool.
GEEK SKILLS: Technically wedo stuff most people can't do on their own. Programming stuff. Computer stuff. Production stuff. Design Stuff. We make it easy.
Discovering love sooner than most, a love of technology that is, at the tender age of 10 Stacy’s first computer was a TI-99 complete with a cassette tape drive. This love eventually took the technology junkie to Austin, TX where she bit her teeth into software and was immediately hooked. While in Texas she was introduced to the entrepreneurial bug during the dot-com boom, this interactive experience encouraged her spirit. Stacy honed her marketing skills while moving up the executive ladder, smart phone in tow, and with a “work hard, play hard” mentality, trips to Vegas were as common as 18hr days.
She started Wellborn Ideas in September 2011 and eventually moved to Mobile, AL. This savvy lady saw a need in the area and was sure to fill it! Stacy is a tireless advocate and active member of the Mobile community, serving on the boards of UCP Mobile, HandsOn South Alabama, Downtown Mobile Alliance and Mobile United. She is a 2011 graduate of Leadership Mobile and was included in the 2010 class of Mobile Bay’s 40 Under 40.
When not training for a marathon (he’s run five in the past 3 years) or bragging to his old friends in Chicago about the mild southern weather, you’ll find Carl racing around the office showing off his latest designs.
As an Art Director/Creative Director in the advertising industry for over twenty years and armed with a degree in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois, Carl has helped to sell everything from antiperspirants to air conditioning, from financial services to software, from fast food to healthcare. His work in television, print, radio, outdoor, direct mail and web design has earned a number of prestigious awards and the thanks of many blue chip and global clients including Proctor & Gamble, Carrier, Aventis, SSA Global and Wal-Mart.
Carl relocated with his family from Chicago to Mobile, Alabama in 2010.
This east coast transplant’s first words at nine months old were “light bulb” and once uttered, according to her mother, she has yet to shut up. When she learned to write her love of words quickly parlayed into a passion for writing as much as she talked. Harriet has plenty of life experience including managing a restaurant, helping to start a local newspaper of which she was an editor and featured columnist, oh, and bartending into the wee hours of the mornings to pay the bills through graduate school, to name a few.
Eventually she wandered away from journalism and found herself in the tourism industry where she spent the better part of a decade as a Director of Communications. Arranging national press tours, developing and executing crisis communication plans for natural disasters, designing high quantity collateral, managing social media, creating marketing plans, brand strategy development and fostering deep rooted relationship with the media were just a few of the things she did during her time there.
In 2010 a consummate desire to be in a more creative environment led Harriet to partner with Stacy Wellborn to help bring wellbornIdeas to the full-service agency level. Once again she could be her odd self, write with passion, and yep, she’s still talking...a lot. But now she’s talking about our clients to the media, to the digital world, to opinion leaders, to anyone that will listen…her words will make you look good.
We have walls just like any building and watching the paint dry doesn’t get our juices flowing. Our craft requires inspiration, but we get bored easily, which is why we invite artists to display their work in our office. If you have the art and hopefully talent, we want to see it. Plain and simple. If deemed worthy by the judge, jury and executioner, you shall be granted the use of the space for an entire month. This includes an opening event, with hors d'oeuvres provided by us, during the LODA art walk. Capiche?
